I had been tasked with creating an AND/OR Title sequence for the Amazon Original:

The Legend of Vox Machina

To accomplish this, I harnessed the potential that the characters of the eponymous Vox Machina have with their distinctive nature in each of their iconic appearances and natures.

By harnessing the evocative elements of the main characters, this title sequence would be able to stay true to the heart of the show and provide a dynamic vehicle to impress the fans.

VOX COLORUM

The goal was to create a 15s title animation for one of my favorite episodic shows: The Legend of Vox Machina.

The piece had to be expressive of the content of the source material and give the audience an opportunity to transition from “normal life” into the world of Exandria.

Each character of Vox Machina has a color that’s signature to them, and this direction keys into the potential of portaying color to precede an episode. This concept would rely heavily on graphic silhouettes that are made to highlight each individual color, with the silhouettes being the color of the next member of the team (from Scanlan's purple to Vax’s black for example).

Parallax! Parallax! Parallax!

Through the various iterations, the piece became slowly less vector in its design, and instead took on a more dynamic illustrative style

These were ported over and layered in After Effects to be able to create a parallax effect to make each frame have some much needed depth, while not distracting the viewer with too much character animation.
