WIKIPEDIA PSA

I had been tasked with raising awareness of the critical mission of Wikipedia and to make its viewers aware of how much they depend on this free knowledge resource.

Through creating an engaging public service announcement (PSA) and helping viewers to understand how they can help keep this valuable asset alive, I accomplished this.

INTEGRAL

The goal was to remind the users of how easy to access Wikipedia is, and how its accessibility makes its information easy to digest.

This was to be the moral of the PSA. "You won't know what you have before its gone". So I had to ensure that this was the focus over directions that felt more 'tech demo' than PSA.

This direction used a mockup of the iconic Wikipedia page, and the search bar is used to list off the script. Many, many, many, easy to access Wikipedia articles are shown in the

drop-down menu as the text keeps coming.

I created a series of mock-ups of a Wikipedia search bar in Adobe Illustrator, and began to collect reference on the actual search results for the first word typed.

I knew I'd be taking this into Adobe After Effects to animate. The typing was generated through use of matte-layers and hold keyframes.

Camera moves were very important, and produced visual interest through more dynamic angles. Additionally, since this information is type-focused, the camera was the key to reinforcing the hierarchy.
